Movie Review: Good Newwz

Good Newwz is a comedy romantic film starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead roles and is directed by Raj Mehta. The film highlights one of the major issues that most of the married couples face when they wish to have a child.

The film revolves around a married couple, Deepti (Kareena) and Varun (Akshay), who wish to have a child but despite several attempts fail to get one. Their last hope turns out to be Dr Batra, who is a famous gynecologist in Mumbai. He suggests them to opt for in-vitro fertilization to which Deepti and Varun happily agree. The tables turn when Deepti’s eggs get mixed up with Honey’s (Diljit) sperms and Varun’s sperms gets mixed up with Monika’s (Kiara) eggs. Honey and Monika are married couple who were struggling with the same situation that Deepti and Varun were facing. The entire plot gets takes a comical turn with the entry of Honey and Monika as they start interfering in Deepti and Varun’s lives to stop them from aborting Honey’s child.

This is one of the best comedy films I’ve watched after so many years with a very unique concept. Akshay Kumar and Diljit Dosanjh just nailed it and the viewers just couldn’t stop laughing throughout the film. Even during serious situation like delivery of the child, they managed to make us laugh. This film is unlike other comedy films nowadays that only have unnecessary dialogues and over-dramatic characters in the name of comedy.

One could easily relate to the story and all the songs in the movie were relevant to the film. But I would suggest the viewers not to watch this film with children or elders as it has a bit of adult dialogues that might make you feel awkward. Overall, it is a must watch film that can be viewed again and again.
